Television Cape Verde (TCV) is the first television station in the country. The public broadcaster was founded in 1996, and started broadcasting in 1999, on the channel CVR, broadcasting live and on-demand programs, as well as podcasts and online videos.
In the year 2000, the channel moved to its current location, on the free-to-air channel RTV, broadcasting 24/7. In the same year, the first programming was produced, and it was broadcast on the morning news program “O Primero”, presented by Marques Felipe Frutos. In 2007, the channel became the first to have its programming produced in-house, and in 2009, it started broadcasting its own news program “O nosso tempo”, presented by Maria de Belém Penna.
In the year 2011, the channel started broadcasting its own morning news program, “A Cara”, presented by Tiago Monteiro. In 2012, the channel started a new news program, “Jornal da Região”, presented by Gustavo Boucena.
In 2013, the channel started a new news program, “A notícia mais interessante”, presented by Tiago Bernardes.
